Describe Ulysses-what does he look like and act like? Try to be specific.

I think Ulysses would be strong and faithful, inside and outside, by carrying all the soldiers that were asleep from the flower, and him winning by not sleeping like the other soldiers. He would be also brave, going into the Trojan castle first, but not running away. I think he is also wise, from thinking the idea to make an wooden horse to hide in, when the Trojans thought that it was made for them, and brought it in the castle with no doubt. Also he was the one who noticed that the soldiers were getting asleep from the flowers, but not because they were tired. In my opinion, I think he would have old and shabby, with all the wrinkles on his face, and looking tired, but muscular because of the stress from wars and fighting, and the eagerness to see his family.

Why did Ulysses' men betray him and open the bag of winds from Aeolus? What happened to those men?

The Ulysses' men first betrayed Ulysses by misunderstanding and not trusting him thinking that there were valuable items in the bag of winds that Aeolus gave Ulysses. They were suspicious and curious what was in the bag, because when they shook it, it sounded like as if there was money inside it. Also they noticed that Ulysses was taking care of the bag very carefully, and never showed the crews what was inside it. The men who opened the bag of winds because of curiosity and mistrusting, they all died because of the sudden wind coming out which caused the boat to sink.

What would it be like to live on Cannibal Beach? What problems would it create to have a quicker cycle of day and night. How do you think this kept Ulysses from discovering what the trees were?

I think it would be dangerous and risk full to live in the Cannibal Beach, because of the quicker cycle of day and night and because of the cannibals. Having a quicker cycle of day and night can cause me have less sleep than ever, because I need to wake up by the brightness when the sun comes out when it is supposed to be still night, and I need to sleep because the sun goes down which will make me have no light to do anything but just sleep. I reckon I would be very busy. However having a quicker cycle of day and night seemed to save Ulysses' life. When Ulysses' was climbing up the cannibal's beard, when he thought that it was only a tree, Ulysses was saved by noticing fast that the beard wasn't really a tree, but the cannibal by looking at it with the sunlight, and could manage to run away quickly, with not much accidents except that some of his mans were killed.

Vocab questions

In Chap. 9,The Wandering Rocks, Ulysses has to decide what to do for himself. All of the advice that he has been given turns out to be useless.

What does he decide to do? Have you ever been in a situation that required you to make an important decision on you own? How did you decide what to do?
In chapter 9, Ulysses ignores the ghost's advice and decides to sail around the Sirens, tide drinking, and man eating monsters which the ghosts have mentioned, to go in a safer route. However he finds wandering rocks at that route, but decided to go in that way because he couldn't bear going southward because of the tide drinking and man eating monsters, like ghosts fortelled to do. I had a situation in which I had to decide whether to do my homework first and watch the TV program later, where my favorite singing group Bigbang comes out(I am not sure that this seems important to others, but it was pretty important to me). However I decided to do my homework first because I could watch it for free at the youtube site later.

Ulysses has gone through much physical and mental hardship. Through all of this he

has been determined to return to Itacha. What people and/or places in your life would

you be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to get to/see. Explain your answer.

I would be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to see and protect Big Bang, the Korean pop singers I like the best. Even they look very handsome, they are very good at singing, and they have fancy stage performances. If they retire, I think the quality of Korean pop music would also decrees too. Unlike like these days hook music( music that hooks people by repeating phrases of words and melody), which people say that it has low quality, Big Bang sings different kinds of music(except Lollipop, which is a song for a commercial of a mobile phone, name Lollipop), which some experts complicated. If someone asks me if they are so important in my life, I would say yes. They gave me more joyfulness to my life, only by existing, and they gave me purification in my eyes and ears, by their smily faces and unique voices. ^^
