1: Defining the word "creative"
Dictionary Definition:
adjective 1. marked by the ability or power to create, 2. having the quality of something created rather than imitated: IMAGINATIVE, 3. managed so as to get around legal or conventional limits; deceptively arranged as to conceal or defraud.
noun 1. one who is creative, 2. creative activity or the material produced by it.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/creative
There are many definitions of the word "creative". There are 5 definitions given to it by the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary.
No, I don't agree with the dictionary definition. I believe that creative has many more definitions than what is shown in this online dictionary. The dictionary, I think, is rather vague in explaining such a commonly used yet hard to describe word. Not that the dictionary's definition of the word "creative" does not suffice or anything, I just think the word could be defined in a finer way.
My Definition: To be artistically expressive in a totally individual way.

Journal Entry 1 List 20 things that annoy you. Choose 1 to write about
  1. Cathy (my little sister) waking me up in the morning...pulling my arms and legs and taking away my blanket
  2. Cathy constantly asking, "Watcha doin?" when I'm studying

  4. People living above us stomping on the floor and creating obnoxiously loud noises, "playing" (or rather banging) on piano keys, pushing chairs across the floor...

  6. Show-offs, the occasional know-it-all . . . (I cannot say that hypocrites really annoy me because everyone can be a hypocrite at some point in their life. Doesn't everyone say one thing and then do another?)

  8. The smell of sweat in a damp classroom
  9. The smell of excessive perfume within a closed room
  10. The sound of squeaky shoes on cold floors

Journal Entry 2 Write a paragraph about a girl named Dot, but use no letters with i or j.
Dot was an odd young lady who had red freckles, long brown locks, and a sharp tongue. She wore purple and gray suspenders and sparkly red sweaters that she made herself. Her feet were kept warm by her cherry colored boots that had elaborate sequences of glass beads and feathers attached to them. She had fourteen pets: one llama, four dogs, seven cats, one horses, and one mouse. On weekdays and weekends Dot would take care of all her pets, feed them, clothe them, and wash them. Dot loved to eat all types of cheese. She had a fondness for cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Gouda cheese, blue cheese, Monterrey cheese, mozzarella cheese, Camembert cheese, Muenster cheese, Parmesan cheese, colby cheese, cottage cheese, pepper cheese, feta cheese, and more. Too bad Dot no longer dwells the earth any longer, for she would have made a great buddy.

On Friday, January 29th 2010, I went skiing with my sister and Rachel. We planned to go in the early morning around 7:30, but because it was too cold to go out at that time, we decided to go at 8:30 instead. When we got there, I was afraid that I had forgotten how to ski. We trekked all the way to the beginner slope, but we saw that the line was too long. So, we had to go to the intermediate course first. Fortunately, I remembered the skiing basics and I was able to manage to get down the intermediate slope without any major injuries. It was so hard to trek through the snow with our skis! Skiing was so much fun. I loved the feeling of the rush of the cold air against my face. It was such an exhilarating experience! We had lunch around 11:30 and went back to ski after sitting awhile and digesting our food. In total, we skied down the the slopes around 9 times in only two hours! All in all, that day was one to remember.

Journal Entry 5
Silly is a middle-aged man who combs his remaining limp strand of hair into an elaborate swirl over his bald spot, gluing them in place with hair spray and hoping no one will notice.

Silly is a gold retriever who slinks sheepishly off the sofa whenever his owner comes home, hoping-despite the piles of hair all over the cushion-that she won't notice he's been sleeping there.
What else is silly? Give three more examples.

Silly is an impish kitten left home alone who chases after wind-up toy mice, struggles to tackle the "ghosts" that are living underneath her bed, and hopes no one will notice the disarray she's made of the house.

Silly is a little girl who innocently whistles a tune, hoping that her mother won't notice - despite the obvious stains on the kitchen sink and the horrible odor fuming from the toilet - the remains of a science project gone terribly wrong.

Silly is the dimwitted wife of the fisherman who goes out of her house to visit the Queen of England dressed in silk stockings and patented hose, but forgets to brush her teeth and blow her nose.

Journal Entry 6 Describe your bedroom the way you want it to be.
My dream bedroom would be very capacious and circle-shaped with elegant wooden floorboards. When one enters my room through the cream-colored rectangular door, they will be immersed in a mixture of modern and bohemian sights. In the middle of the room, I would install a long pole-like speaker system with surround sound. On the left side of my room I would have floor to ceiling glass windows and rose-colored curtains to be used when it is extremely sunny. On the other half of my room I would put my studying desk and bulletin board. On the center-right wall I would install a floor-to-ceiling glass whiteboard. The walls of my room would be painted in a creamy white and embellished with my own paintings and other works. Winding from the middle of my wall to the opposite end of my room would be a circular bookshelf that holds my own books. I would paint my ceiling a midnight blue with crystal white stars. My bed would be a simple white bed with snazzy red covers and a red pillow. Opposite the bed would be my remote-controlled closet and TV. Above my bed I would decorate the wall space with a clock shaped like a bird.

Journal Entry 7 Fatima is a very spoiled teenage girl. Show that she is spoiled by describe what happens when she doesn't get a car for her birthday.
It was a very special day in the house of Garcia for it was Fatima's sweet sixteen! Everyone in the family had frantically prepared for this day the week before, and were all nervous with apprehension. "Surprise!" exclaimed Fatima's parents, brothers, and sisters as she walked out of her bedroom. The servants popped the firecrackers and the festivities began. Everything was going quite well with the surprise party, that is, until it was time for Fatima to open her presents. On the dining table lay a whole variety of sumptuous goodies: Chanel handbags, diamond encrusted slippers, a plasma screen TV, white gold bangles and sterling silver hoops, a golden iPhone case, and plenty more. Despite the obvious effort put into buying and wrapping such luxurious gifts Fatima was enraged not to see a brand new Bentley awaiting her arrival.
"Papa, where is my car?" Fatima demanded.
"Well, you see... well... honey.... this year Papa's salary came in a bit late so I didn't have the t-"
"What?!" Fatima interjected. "You didn't buy me a car? But Papa! You promised to buy me a Ferrari or an Audi or a Bentley at least! How could you do that to me Papa! Mama, Papa, Josephine, Carlos, Santiago, Veronica, Cicily, I hate you all!" she screamed, her face flushed beet red with anger.
In her fury, Fatima upturned all the leather chairs in the dining hall, smashed 14 glass vases into the windows, and dumped her birthday cake on her mother and father.

Journal Entry 8 Write a paragraph about a cat attacking something, but don't use the words hiss, scratch, or pounce
The cat leaped up into the air and lashed its paws across the silky, white "ghost" in front of it. This ghost was hard to catch (likewise, it was very difficult to kill)! Taunting the cat, the ghost merely flew in the opposite direction, and landed back on the cat. In its fury, the cat swiped its razor sharp claws in the air like a dangerous raging fur-ball. Smack! The "ghost" conducted a counter-attack on the kitty, surprising the dumb-struck kitty suddenly. Frustrated, the cat snarled viciously and takes a step back as the "ghost" approaches. Smack! Smack! Swoosh! The "ghost" blanketed the kitty with its light, gauzy linen, entrapping the kitty in a tangle of white cloth. Struggling to escape, the cat tumbled in the belly of the "ghost" furiously. Livid, the cat dizzily walked away from the "ghost". Realizing its defeat, the cat scampered away and retreated to its niche in back corner of the room. That is the end of the battle between the cat and the invincible white "ghost" (curtains).

Journal Entry 9 Describe what you feel right now using your sense of smell. If you feel frustrated, write about what your frustration smells like. Use vivid words. Don’t skimp on adjectives.
I smell a tinge of sweat in the air around me. Perhaps its the odor of beady sweat off a 6th grader's back after PE class... This bodily odor makes me feel nauseous. To my left I can clearly sniff the smell of a woman's perfume, heavy and fruity. The smell lingers in the air and suffocates my concentration, for I don't really care for perfume and whatnot. To my right I can waft a smell of minty breath, crisp and airy, yet mixed with a once stagnant human breath. This minty smell is from none other than some Altoids, no doubt. Under the desks lies an underlying stench of dried glue and other stenches. Perhaps its the odor of stinking feet, pricking the nose with severe power and disgust. Or perhaps someone forgot to throw out a 4-day old sack-lunch. The smells I can identify, but from where they are coming from, I have no clue.

These days, I have been wondering whether it would be good or not to be home schooled. It might be nice to not have to go to school to learn, but I think that students will miss out on a lot of things that they can experience at school that they cannot experience at home. First of all, attending a regular school helps build strong social skills, unlike home-schooling. Learning in an environment with various individuals allows students to socialize and build relationships with his or her peers while sharing ideas. Also, attending school will allow students to communicate with others despite differences. Furthermore, because schools often assign group projects and other group activities, students will be able to learn how to cooperate in teams and learn for themselves. This constant social building is important for students blending in the society after they graduate. These social skills will also allow the student to become in charge of his or herself and as an individual who does not need to hold the hand of an over-protecting parent to make decisions. In addition, regular schools provide openness to diversity while home-schooling does not. For example, let’s say that there is a student named Margaret who was home-schooled. She has been home-schooled ever since she was a toddler and is enrolled into a university. Though she may have comprehended her studies academically, she would not be able to cope socially. She may receive cultural shock because she has not been exposed to diverse ethnic backgrounds in one place. If Margaret had attended school, she would have been able to cope with the differences of her peers at college. But still...the idea of home schooling is still a compelling choice when you think about how you want to be educated.

Journal Entry 11 Use the following words in a story: little boy, torn, page, market, cart
On top of a hill lived a family of four. They were known as the Molenaar family. The father, Aalbert Molenaar, was a skilled farmer who, despite his skill, loved to procrastinate, and made little money out of his work. The mother, Gebke Molenaar, was a a father, a son, and a daughter. This little peasant family lived on the pastoral hills of a small town in Amsterdam. It was a town where every day was like the rest: rising in the morning, eating two meals a day, working the land during the afternoon, and sleeping in the evening. But this particular day was unlike any other.
One morning, mother asked
"Johnny!" yelled the little boy's mother. "While you are going out, don't forget to take the vegetable cart to the market!"
"Yes mother!" replied Peter.
So Peter marked the page in the book he was reading, and set out for the market with the vegetable cart.
On the way back home, Peter crashed into a herd of cows with his car and his pants became torn! So when he arrived at home, his mother berated him for his mistake, but sewed him back up anyway.
The End.

Journal Entry 12 Write an eight sentence paragraph on a topic of your choice. Make sure that you vary the length of each sentence.
What's your favorite food? Mine are potatoes. Potatoes are the most wonderful source of food on earth. Not only are potatoes good for you body and rich in starch, they also come in various types. Coming in a variety of flavors, potatoes can be sweet or salty. Besides from coming in many different flavors, potatoes can be cooked in all different kinds of ways. Unlike your average fruit or vegetable, cooking potatoes comes in many shapes and forms. Potatoes can be fried, crisped, baked, boiled, mashed, and more. Yum! As you can see, potatoes serve a vital role as a food in today's world and that is why they are my favorite food.

Journal Entry 13 What kind of cartoon show might appeal to the over-age 65 audience? Imagine the show. Then, in 100 words or less, describe the show and its main character.
A cartoon show that revolves around the trivial yet funny aspects of life as a whole might appeal to a 65 and over audience. Perhaps they would enjoy a glimpse of how young people live today compared to how they lived during the 70's or 60's.
I would create a cartoon TV show about an old man and an old woman living a normal life until one day, a strange young man comes to their house and offers them something in return for 10,000 dollars. At first, the married couple would refuse the gift. But when the young man tells them that he would offer them the chance to become young again! Everything seems fine at first when the married couple are transformed, but they find that they are actually only embodied in the bodies of young people and that their minds are still old! The plot would be fixated around the troubles the old man and woman are having living as young people in the "new era" due to the differences in what people thought were "cool and hip" from when their time (1970's), to what people consider "cool and hip" in our time (2010).

I came out of the bathroom and, to my amazement, everyone was gone.
As far as I can remember, it was the summer of 2009: the same year my father attended a seminar in Hawaii. It was an early afternoon when my family and I were going down a hill Switzerland. The sun was shining, and there was a mild breeze. We were all clad in t-shirts, long trousers, and sun caps. On the way down, we stopped at a bathroom. Because there were only one stall per bathroom, I had to wait my turn in line. Being the last one to go, I expected everyone to wait for me after I had finished my business. Apparently, nobody did.
I walked out of the stall and onto the road. The only sound that I heard were of the cowbells jingling and birds chirping. I was suddenly absorbed in the horrid smell of the bathroom and green grass. In less than 30 seconds I became a missing child, all alone in a foreign country. If someone were to have taken a picture of me at that exact moment, I would have resembled the likeness of Beaker, the frazzled assistant of Dr. Honeydew in the Muppets. Perhaps the only witnesses to this event were the cows grazing on the field next to where I was. I could do anything but laugh at my situation.
The realization of being lost overwhelmed me so much that I felt like a tiny mouse. I became a part of the scenery, not noticed as an individual but as part of a whole. The next thing I knew was that my voice erupted in an, “Ahhhhhh! Somebody help me! Mommy! Daddy! Help!” I ran around helplessly, frantically muttering to myself. I voice became like a roll of thunder, booming through the mountains and rumbling across the hills.

Journal Entry 16 Write a rhyme paragraph. Each sentence must begin and end with the words that rhyme with each other. Example: Spring is a wonderful thing. Flowers start to sprout with the help of rain showers.
Dogs are not like hogs.
They do not do silly things like rolling in mud all day. Instead, they like to stay in bed.
Perhaps they aren't as skilled as pigs are when finding dirt traps.
But they are cute animals, and we can consider them man's best friend somewhat.
Sticks are their favorite plaything, and the sound they love the most are whistles and clicks.
Though dogs tend to be messy, each day of their life they will grow.
Whether in good or bad weather, a dog and yourself will be forever together.

Journal Entry 17 Describe in detail a person who leaves no stone unturned
A person who leaves no stone unturned would probably be quite frazzled. Perhaps they would leave their hair unkempt and untidy. Perhaps this person is someone who always loses something, and then looks in every nook and cranny until he or she finds what she lost. Perhaps this person is a girl, looking for her lost puppy. This person could be someone who scrutinizes everything from a large ink blot on white parchment to the smallest piece of lint on a coat pocket. Perhaps this person searches everywhere,

Journal Entry 18 Write a 150-word profile of someone named "Margaret Mallory" or one of the characters for your short story.
Margaret Mallory is an elderly woman around the age of 67. She was born on March 16th in a small village next to the Magnolia Gardens Estate of New York. Her parents died when she was a teenager and she lived under foster care for most of her life. As a child, she used to be wide-eyed and bony-cheeked. But when she bloomed into a lovely woman with fair skin and bushy red hair. She used to be married to Samuel James Walters, who was a wealthy business man. Together, they had three kids, two boys and one girl. Their names were Danny, Harold, and Susan. However, Samuel died early, and left Margaret a widow. Margaret used to love going on long walks on the beach with her husband. But now as a widow, she was devastated by her husband's death and gave up on her life. Margaret now lives alone with her fifteen cats on 456752-A Maple Street in a humble townhouse. Margaret enjoys feeding and taking care of her cats, cooking carrot-pot-pie, and going on walks in the park. Her favorite foods are cheese (specifically Gouda and cheddar), asparagus, onions, and chop suey. Sometimes her children come to visit, and Margaret is able to see her grandchildren from time to time. Margaret sometimes dreams of escaping her frugal lifestyle and move into a nicer, more elegant abode. Sometimes Margaret is lonely and despite the secrets she tells her cats, she wants someone else to share them with.

Journal Entry 19 List 10 things you usually do on a rainy day. Pick one from your list and free write for 5 minutes.
  1. Watch television
  2. Watch re-runs of old sitcoms or reality shows
  3. Practice clarinet or piano
  4. Bake and decorate cookies with mommy (on some occasions)
  5. Study vocabulary
  6. Solve, or attempt to solve, sudoku puzzles
  7. Stare out the window and watch the rain fall down
  8. Sleep and take naps all day
  9. Play Wii games with my sister all day
  10. Go outside, borrow a DVD from the DVD rental place, come back home and watch movies

Usually on rainy days when there is nothing to do, I go out with my sister to borrow DVDs from a DVD rental place. My mother makes sure that we are both warmly dressed for the cold rainy weather. She makes us wear thick coats and checks to see if we have our umbrellas with us. After wearing our rain boots and scarves, my sister and I go outside. It is usually dark outside, with intangible shroud of dreariness in the air. The clouds are usually droopy and moist, sagging with all the weight of the raindrops. My sister enjoys splashing in the puddles and muddying up her shoes while I prefer to abstain from such activities. She also likes to stick our her tongue and lap up the raindrops that fall into her mouth. The DVD rental place is not a long walk from where our apartment is, it only takes us about five minutes to get there if we walk fast. Inside the DVD rental place is warm and cozy, although it may be a bit cramped.

Journal Entry 20 Free write for 3 minutes on this cliche "ice running through her veins"
She crept secretively through the dark tunnel. She knew that the path was ominous and her intuition told her that the task would not be easy to carry out. Silently, she made through the cavernous crypt, looking back every five seconds to make sure the coast was clear. The beam of her flashlight made out the dark symbol encrypted in the walls and revealed the true horrors of what was beneath her: wriggling ant larvae and animal bone. Suddenly a chill ran through her spine, and ice ran through her veins . . .

Although it has been a relatively long time since this has happened, I have decided to write about the loss of one of the greatest pop icons: Michael Jackson and his death.
After 40 successful years in the public eye-as well as being entangled in the many up and downs of Hollywood, Michael Jackson was pronounced dead on June 25, 2009 at 2:26 pm. Michael Jackson collapsed at his rented mansion in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. Shortly after, Jackson was rushed to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center while resuscitation efforts proceeded for an hour. Jackson arrived at the hospital in a coma, but a hospital spokesman would not confirm whether it was a heart attack or not. Michael Jackson was a global pop icon: the King of Pop. He was a singing prodigy and stunned millions with his voice in his days with the Jackson 5, and did the same to the seas of people during his solo career. The pinnacle of his career made him the biggest star in the world and he sold more than 750 million albums. Another thing that will always be associated with Jackson will be the 2003 child molesting charges. After many court trials, Jackson was free of all charges. Nevertheless, worldwide fans will never forget his trademark sequined glove, white face, and moonwalk dance. News of Jackson's death broke web records, triggering a cyberspace jam to websites such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Wikipedia. Even radio stations across the US reacted by playing marathons of Jackson’s hits. May the king of pop live forever in our hearts!

Journal Entry 22 Blurp! Slosh! Snort! Write a paragraph incorporating at least ten onomatopoetic words. Onomatopoetic words are words that sound like what they mean.

Tired from, yet again, another hard day's work, Tim Brown plopped down on his sofa and turned on the TV. Beep, beep, beep! His cellphone suddenly began beeping. "Awww not another client!" groaned Tim. Click! "Hello?" said Tim. "You want be to go now? Oh yes, of course sir, I am on my way!" Although he lived by the name of Tim Brown by day, he was SUPERTIM by night! Smash! He broke open the window of his apartment and swooshed up into the air like a bird. Wheee-hoooo! He zipped trough the sky like a rocket, and zoomed past the trucks and cars. His body was so aerodynamic that a jet-plane wouldn't want to even utter a "vrroooom" by him.

Journal Entry 23 People often say, "If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to..." Complete the sentence five different ways.

If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to . . . cure the common cold!
If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to . . . make pigs fly!
If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to . . . make it rain cats and dogs!
If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to . . . prevent the onset of infectious diseases!
If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to . . . grow money on trees!

If we can send a man to the moon, surely we can figure out how to . . . send mice up there too!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! I love ice cream and I guess almost everyone enjoys a scoop of ice cream once in awhile. My favorite flavor is Raspberry by Hagen Dazs. It is sweet, tangy, and delicious! I love the rich, light burgundy color of it. I love the cool, icy feeling of it in my mouth and on my tongue! Ooh writing this free write journal is making me hungry! I better go down and get an ice cream cone now. . . .or maybe not. I can wait. I like to eat this ice cream in a cup because raspberry + waffle cone don't really compliment each other in my mouth!

Journal Entry 25 Reflect on the process of writing a short story. What did you enjoy a out it? What was difficult? How would you approach it differently if you did it again?

The process of writing a short story was very loose and gave me a lot of freedoms to work with my ideas. However, I found that the process of writing a story was more difficult than what it seemed because of all these freedoms. I didn't know what to write about at first and it required a lot of thinking on my part to come up with a decent characters and plot. I enjoyed that we were not limited to anything, except for keeping it under 7 pages. It was fun to write without anything keeping you from writing an idea down. I liked that feeling of freedom. It was difficult to come up with an original plot and characters because we weren't given an idea to base it off of. This freedom of decision and making our own choices sometimes left me confused and bitter because I had a hard time of deciding what to write about! I feel that if I were given a certain topic to base my short story off of, I would have been able to write it easier because once you are given a topic, it becomes clearer where the direction of your story should go. If I were to do it again, I would jot down all my ideas first. I would write down on my white board at home all the ideas that I have for a story and titles I could base them off of because when I was writing my first short story, I suddenly came up with a better idea than what I already had (a whole new topic) but realized it was too late to change my topic. Nevertheless, my first experience writing a short story was a new and eye-opening way to improve myself as a writer.

Journal Entry 26 A person's choice of a dog is said to express something about his or her personality. Choose five individuals whose names are well-known internationally. What kind of dog would you choose for each? Why? Explain.

  1. Adolf Hitler (Leader of the Nazi Regime): Doberman Pincher/German Shepard:
    • Fits with his strong, domineering personality
    • Both Hitler and these dogs are seen as powerful figures both in the dog world and man's world
  2. Paris Hilton (Socialite): Chihuahua/Pomeranian:
    • A chihuahua would be the "perfect accessory" for a socialite like Paris Hilton
    • Both dogs are high-maintenance and have the paws for pampering like Hilton herself
  3. Yu-na Kim (Internationally Renown South Korean Figure Skater): Maltese:
    • Like the figure skater, the Maltese is cute and friendly!
    • It will be easy to take care of and will keep its cool on the ice just like Queen Yu-na does!
  4. Kim Jong-il (Leader of the North Korean Regime): French Bulldog/Boston Terrier:
    • Like this ruler, bulldogs and terriers are frightfully menacing
    • They look a bit similar, don't you think?
  5. Lady Gaga (Pop-Star): Pekingese/Dachshund:
    • A toy dachshund would be a perfect pet for Lady Gaga. Imagine all the ways she could coordinate his and her outfits!
    • Imagine all the ways that she can incorporate these dogs as her accessories!

Alas! Another free write! I shall write a free write about writing free writes. I don't really like to write free writes because I always get lost on what to write exactly in a free write. Don't you ever have that feeling? That feeling where there is so much you wish to write about, yet you feel that you have nothing to say to support what you want to say? I always have that feeling whenever I encounter a free write! I feel that I need a prompt in order for me to generate ideas to write about something! Having a prompt helps make me set a goal for myself: to follow the prompt and to write about what the prompt tells me to write about!
Sigh. Free writing can be so difficult at times but I can see why teachers like to assign free writes. Free writes are those kinds of assignments where all that creative juice in your head needs to be squeezed out and shown in your writing through free writes.

Journal Entry 29 Write about a moment when you and another person (sibling, friend, parent, etc.) bonded.

I have a little sister. Her name is Catherine Soyeon Kim, but I just call her Cathy. She is in the 4th grade. Despite our age difference, we still get along pretty well and there were many times in which we bonded together as siblings. One time was when we were home alone. Our parents had gone out and we were left to fend for ourselves. Because we were both bored, we decided to watch a movie together while eating our dinner. It was a funny thing because when we were choosing which movie we were going to watch, we both picked our all-time favorite Disney movie - Finding Nemo! It was a nostalgic moment for both of us because we both loved that movie ever since it came out and we still like it even to this day! We laughed at all the funny parts and I think we felt a bigger understanding of each other in the end. I feel that perhaps she, too, felt that although we were different in some ways, we still were both children at heart.

Journal Entry 31 Write in the voice of a rope about to snap. At least one paragraph 5-8 sentences.
Ahhhhh! I knew this was coming! My uncle Jerry and Lenny told me tales about the gory deaths of ropes during their time...and I knew it was definitely not a pretty picture. Whenever I listened to one of their stories about the rope-deaths of their forefathers, I always yawned and acted bored . . . that is until I saw them suffering the same awful deaths as well. And now, as I dangle here by my last thread I think I regret my misbehavior towards my uncles. I truly feel the deep pain that comes with death, figuratively and literally this time! I feel like sobbing hopelessly at this moment, as the tiny hairs of my body slowly peel away one by one. I feel so unaccomplished as a rope now that I think of it! Gosh! Golly Gee! All I ever did was fasten this tire-swing onto this tree for over seven years and this is how I am left to die! Well! Time for my last words! Good-bye mom! Good-bye Dad! Good-bye you good-for-nothing tree! So long world! Oh ,what they hey!
I AM SORRY FOR NOT LISTENING TO YOU AUNT BETHILDA WHEN YOU TOLD ME NOT TO SCRATCH MY BACK AGAINST THIS TREE BARK A MINUTE AGO I-
*SNAP!*
Alas! Famous last words.

Journal Entry 32 Reflect on the group work potion of your commercial project. How did you measure up? Do you believe that you contributed to the group as much as others? What was your role? Did you learn anything new about yourself and how you work in group during this project?

The group work portion of this commercial project, I believe, has been quite successful in our group. I measured up to this by contributing what I could with my group and discussing who would be doing what and where it would be done. I believe that I have contributed as much as my other group members did, and maybe even a bit more. Usually, I contribute to a group project as a technician. I usually do most of the video editing while contributing creative ideas. But this time, I worked mostly as an idea initiator and task coordinator. I generated the idea of having us advertise a trampoline (from my house) for little kids and that we could use my younger sister as an actress in the commercial so that it could appeal to a younger age group. I coordinated the tasks by writing down what needed to be done, when it needed to be done, and how it should be done. Perhaps I took in these tasks because I was working with group members who were younger than I am. I learned that to make these types of group projects work, you must keep a sense of self-responsibility to both the group and yourself so that everything can be done and get done at the designated and planned time., "

Journal Entry 33 Pick a character from a day time soap opera. Put him or her in a stranded commuter train. Write about what he or she is feeling or is thinking at the moment.
"Raisin bran, oatmeal, sour dough bread, bacon, cheese, milk, orange juice, figs, pears, honeydew melons, shampoo, raisin bran, oatmeal, sour dough bread, bacon, cheese, milk, orange juice, figs, pears, honeydew melons, shampoo," she reminded herself as she sat down on the train. To her, it was a day like any other. She would soon be at home, making coffee and then heading to work in the afternoon. She gave herself a self-check: fuchsia colored wrap around dress with nude pumps to match in one hand she grasped her Blackberry and in the other she held her Chanel tote. She was on a commuter train and headed to NYC. She was pretty excited to get home finally, after a long vacation in Spain. Knowing that she wouldn't remember the list, she quickly opened her handbag and rummaged through it to find a pen and a scrap of paper. Without thinking, her arms let go of her bag as the train suddenly lurched to a stop. Oh crap, she thought to herself, I feel so clumsy! Brushing herself off, she picked up her belongings and started back to her seat when a man's voice called behind her. "Excuse me, miss, you dropped your, umm, pen." Her ginger curls bounced as she turned her head in the direction of the voice. The man gave her a quick look and held the pen out in front of him. Wow...he's kind of cute, she thought to herself, smiling. "Oh, ummm, thank you!" she replied, flashing him a smile. "No problem," came the answer, and the man walked away. Before she could stop herself she cried out, "Wait! Umm...You can sit next to me if you'd like. It's going to take a while to get back to New York and I have nobody to accompany me...well...only if your interested..." Man that was awkward! she scolded herself. To her surprise, however, he agreed and cordially sat next to her for the remainder of the trip. To start off the conversation, she stated: "My name is Marissa Kentworthy."

Journal Entry 34 You can tell a lot about a person by what he or she says. Here are some things Grandma Dorothy always says: "You can never be too dressed up." "A woman should never ask a man to dance." "He is quite a snappy dresser." Based on these sentences, imagine what kind of person Grandma Dorothy is. Write a paragraph describing her. Feel free to use any or all of her quotations.

I love Grandma Dorothy. Although she can be an eccentric old coot sometimes, I love how she is still free spirited like she was in the old days. She lived in the good old 60's. A time wear women had "lots of fun" as she says. In her day, she said she lived the life of a party animal: dressing up, hanging out with friends, going to see all the latest cinema hits! She even said she'd met Frank Sinatra before (like I'd ever believe that!). With her long cigarette in her mouth, she blows smoke rings while telling me that I need to "embrace my inner femininity" more and that I need to express myself more. But frankly, I think she does enough of that for both of us! She tries to relive the life she once lived by dancing around the parlor with her feathered boa and mink stole. She smears makeup on her face, powdering her nose, fixing her eyebrows, smudging rouge on her cheeks, and applying bright red lipsticks to puckered lips. Her excuse for this always is that, "You can never be too dressed up." It's embarrassing at times when she goes outside like that in public as well! (Although I don't tell her that directly, I guess she kind of gets the gist of what I'm thinking most of the time because of my facial expression, but all the same.) She also loves to gossip! It's her thing really, I've never known a bigger gossip than her! She always comments on people saying that, "Oh he is a fine man!" or "He is quite a snappy dresser." Wow Grandma Dorothy. You really lived the life, didn't you?

Journal Entry 35 Write from the point of view of a freshly scrubbed floor.
Ah! The delights of being a freshly scrubbed and squeaky-clean floor just makes me as happy as punch. Marvel at my cleanliness! Bask in my sparkling glory! My tiles simply gleam with a pearly sheen, once they are scrubbed clean. Ahh... the scent of Clorox and soapy water just make my day. Once I ask the kitchen stove about how I looked that day, and he answered: "Uhhhhhh... you always look the same to me." Puh-lease. If I were anything but perfectly clean, how would ants and mice and cockroaches eat off of me? Don't you dare step on me, you muddy human foot! Don't you ever tread upon my gleaming surface, my impeccable facade! Don't you even think about approaching me without my consent! The soles of your shoes must be squeaky clean before you walk! Remember! Think before you trod! Or else I'm gonna be angry at you! I really am! Don't think I won't be because you'll be sorry if I do become angry! Oh wait, what's that brown thing over there? Oh no! It's a muddy...black....boot! No, no no no no no noooooooooooo! Get it away from me! Eeek! It stepped on me wahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Journal Entry 36 Is there a cause you care about a lot? How far would you go to stand up for what you believe?
Yes there are many causes that I care about, yet I do not have a cause that I care specifically about yet. I wish I did, but I don't specifically have one yet. Of the other causes include the ones like PETA, the abolishing of war, the organizations that seek world peace, organizations that involve environmental issues, global cooling, MADD, and other such organizations. I also believe in the empowerment of the women in society to have equal rights as men and the organizations for victims of rape and domestic problems. Besides this, I also believe in causes that benefit the LGBTs and other homosexual organizations around the globe. (I mean, why do people care so much about other people's sexuality? It doesn't matter because it's not their life and it's how they want to live it so leave it be!) How far would I go to stand up for what I believe in? Until I am put into a position in which these causes would directly harm myself, I am not sure how far I would go. But I feel that if somebody has a genuine stance for something that they care about, they would most definitely to anything in their power to benefit their cause.

Journal Entry 37 Write about a time you hid from someone, or a time you disguised who you really were.
A time that I hid from someone was when my family and I were coming back home from dinner one night. We were walking back and my sister and I decided to run back home and hide so that our parents wouldn't find us (it was a spur of the moment thing but we did it for fun). So we ran to the elevator, rode it, quickly bolted into the house, took off our shoes with lightning speed, and slid under my bed. The whole house was dark and everything so it was a big spooky, but still fun. My sister asked me, "I need to pee." I told her not to go yet so that we could surprise our parents (but the thing is, I actually had to pee too but I felt that I should hold it was well). When we heard the bee-bee-bee-beep of the door lock, we held our breaths so that we wouldn't make a sound. My parents came into the house and my sister and I looked at each other as if to say, "Do you think they'll find us?" *wink-wink*

Journal Entry 38 Recall an uplifting experience and write about it.
An uplifting experience that I can recall clearly is seeing the view from the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. It wasn't exactly the view in particular that was amazing but perhaps the long and tiring journey that we had to take made this view seem amazing. We first had to wait in this long, meandering line of people to get our tickets before we could even enter the Eiffel Tower. The only part I remember of that was the many mumblings and chitter-chatterings of tourists and French people alike swarming to get their tickets the fastest. Then we had to go up the stairs in an orderly manner to ride the humungous elevator that would eventually take us up to the "1st" floor of the tower. At that moment, I truly felt as if I were one of those poor fish stuck in a can of sardines: all packed together tightly, sweating and stinking horribly. It was a relief to get off of that elevator, but with the prospect of having to ride another one to get to the "2nd" floor made me change my mind - but of course, we had to go there anyway. Finally, when we reached our destination and looked out at the view, it was really worthwhile. Paris was a gem, glistening with beautiful architecture, romantic lights, musics, sounds, and sights. The whole thing was rather uplifting because I had longed to see the Eiffel Tower ever since I was a little girl, and now I was physically there seeing it with my own eyes! But of course, good things do not last! We had to walk down the Eiffel Tower using the stairs -- and that's another story entirely.

Journal Entry 39 Free Write
(I'm going to write this post about a TV show called Glee!) If there is one show that I currently love, it would be Glee. Glee is a show that depicts the underdogs in all of us in a seemingly "regular" high school where things aren't as normal as they should be. The main characters are Rachel Berry - as aspiring Barbara Streisand; Mr. Schuester - the glee club director; Finn - the quarterback turned glee club member; Quinn Fabray - the cheerleader turned impregnated glee club member; Puck - the "bad-boy" of the glee club; Mercedes - the diva; Ms. Pilsbury - the germaphobic guidance counselor; Kurt Hummel - the gay soprano; Artie - the paraplegic guitarist; Tina - the stuttering goth girl; Brittany and Santana - two competitive Cheerios. I like how Glee incorporate song and music along with funny comedy to create a show that is both musically inspiring and fun at the same time! Oh and I also forgot: Sue Sylvester is also one of the main characters. She is one of the main antagonists of the Glee Club's future because she always tries to find some way to stop Glee Club from existing. Sue's probably the funniest character in this show because of her sarcastic humor and wit.

Journal Entry 40 Take two people who dislike each other and stick them in the backseat of a cab. What happens?
It was a dreary Monday morning as Marjorie and Nathan rode a cab to 39th street. Marjorie and Nathan had fought about something trivial earlier that day. Traffic was heavy, which made the couples' tensions within the cab even more unbearable. Their argument went sort of like this:
"Nathan?" asked Marjorie.
"What?" he replied in contempt. "What more do you have to say to me? Haven't we been through enough already? Huh? Gosh...."
"No, no, it's not that..." Marjorie sighed and reached for his hand, but he pulled away.
"Don't talk to me." he cut her off. "I don't want to hear another one of your lame 'excuses' ever again. I'm sick and tired of all of these secrets, lies, and .... and....... and......"
"And what?" Marjorie asked.
"And.... and... nothing. Never mind. I won't even say it."
"Shut up! JUST SHUT UP!"
"No, you shut up."
Taxi driver: "BOTH OF YOU! SHUT IT!"
*silence*

Journal Entry 41 List 10-15 things worth saving and then choose one to write about.
  1. Yearbooks
  2. Money
  3. Antiquities (old furniture, old jewelry, etc . . . )
  4. Photo Albums (baby photos, class pictures, etc . . .)
  5. Your favorite books
  6. Your favorite movies/videos
  7. Your home-videos
  8. CDs and record disks (as in, music)
  9. Old instruments
  10. Music boxes
  11. Baby possessions
  12. Collections (stamps, coins, pens...etc....)
  13. Souvenirs (refrigerator magnets, postcards, etc. . . )
  14. Holiday cards
  15. and more....!

I think that school yearbooks are something worth saving because they hold so many memories within them. Just thinking about how much time and effort it comes into creating these yearbooks is indescribable but having one is definitely worth the keep. You can flip through old memories of events at school, remember your friends and the good (and bad) times you had at school. Not only that, but you can probably get in touch with those who you have left after school by looking up their names in yearbooks. Who knows, you might be able to hang out and share memories of those whom you have "forgotten" past high school years and rekindle friendships.

Journal Entry 42 There are only three words in the English dictionary that start with "dw": dwell, dwindle, dwarf. Write a paragraph that incorporate all three of these "dw" words.
There once was a place called Doof. Doof was once lush with exotic plants and animals of all kinds. It was known for its abundance in carrots, celery, and other leafy greens. The cherries ripened at the peak of summer and a million varieties of succulent raspberries grew intertwined with banana trees. Rumor had it that it was not magic that made this place as fertile as it was, but it was actually the work of a tribe of dwarves. The dwarves were cute, gentle creatures who only cared about each other and love for mother nature. They were very open to society and the giving of food to the poor, but they grew hostile when anyone tried to plunder them of their hard work. Although they were not the . . .Not only did the good dwarves dwell in this land, no sirree.

Journal Entry 43 "Yipes," said the zebra. "I've lost my stripes." Continue the paragraph using as many words as you possibly can that rhyme with "yipes."
"Yipes," said the zebra. "I've lost my stripes."
"Really?" asked the the lion. "Are you sure you haven't lost your tailpipe?"
"No," answered the zebra. "I'm pretty sure I've lost my stripes."
"Hey guys, what's all the hype?" asked the dodo bird.
"What the-? Aren't you supposed to be extinct?" asked the lion.
"No, I'm the only one left now I guess. Unlike popular belief, we dodo birds didn't die of the gripe, but were wiped away because we ate the unripe pumpkin pies," the dodo answered.
"Oh," muttered the zebra. "I thought you all were swiped away by the FBI."
"What's the FBI?" asked the snipe.
"I'm not entirely sure but I heard they get rid of bad guys."

Journal Entry 45 Free Write
Once upon a time in a small town in California, there lived a small girl named Catherine. She lived with her parents, brother, two sisters, and dog. Catherine’s parents were on a trip to China so she was staying with her brother and sisters. One day Catherine decided to go to the beach. When she was at the beach, she saw blond hair sticking out of the water. Catherine pulled the hair. Suddenly she heard a splash!
“Ahhhh! Something is in the water!” everyone screamed.
Everyone ran away from the beach except for Catherine. Catherine dove into the water and peered down. She laughed and laughed. “It is just a mermaid!” she said to herself. Catherine saw that the mermaid had beautiful blue scales and long shiny blond hair with blue streaks. On her ears she had starfish earrings.
Later, the mermaid popped her head out of the water and said, “Hello! My name is Catrina. What is your name? Do you want to be my friend?” "My name is Catherine and it is nice to meet you Catrina.” said Catherine. “I would love to be your friend! Come out and play with me! But how can you walk on land? You are a mermaid! You have no feet!” “It’s okay!” said Catrina. “When I go out of the water, my tail disappears and I grow legs! Watch this!” Catrina jumped out of the water and her shiny blue tail disappeared and suddenly two legs grew from her waist! She began to dance like a pop singer would. Catherine was so surprised. She never had a mermaid friend before! She was so excited and screamed, “Let’s go to my house and play! No one is there so we can have the whole house to ourselves!” “Okay! I’ve never been outside of the sea before,” laughed Catrina. The two girls ran to Catherine’s house. Catrina said that she was hungry and had never tried human food before. So, Catherine opened the secret cookie jar and gave Catrina five chocolate chip cookies!

Journal Entry 46 Reflect on your Digital Storytelling Project.
Overall, I liked doing this project. It was challenging with the time limit of only two minutes maximum, one minute minimum. I really wanted to make it longer and add more description to my narration but unfortunately, I couldn't. Using only 12 pictures was also a challenge. From my narration, there were so many pictures that I could have chosen from and I found it hard to choose only 12 out of the 83 pictures that I had taken. In addition, another challenge was compiling these pictures to fit my narration. Finding the music was easy though, because I already knew the theme for this assignment, and chose a nice acoustic number to serve as the background music for my project. Although many things were difficult in this process, I still love a good challenge. I think that I did a good job overall, but I could have worked on recording my voice over again so that it was perfect without any noise distractions in the background...and I felt that I could have worked more on intonation and enunciation when speaking. I especially liked Rachel, Kelly, and Andrew's projects. For Rachel's I though that the voice over and the pictures were perfectly correlated and I loved how her narrations were sincere and genuine. I really liked her intro as well. Another one that I liked was Andrew's. There was a sort of Steve Job's like quality to his, short and sweet. Again, his voice narration was well matched with the pictures he provided and the background music was well fit.

Journal Entry 47 Use all of the following words in a story: plastic bottle, baseball, dirty handkerchief, crumpled note, unhinged door.
It was a normal Saturday like any other. Harry had just got off the bus from his baseball game and was walking home. As he walked through the door, he shouted, "Mom! Dad! I'm home!" To his surprise, nobody answered. Strange, he thought to himself. Why isn't anybody home? But his parents were not the only things that were missing from his house. In the kitchen, everything was flipped and overturned: plastic bottles littered the floor, and the back door was unhinged. "Oh god..." Harry muttered to himself, aghast. "What happened here?" Gingerly walking through the battlefield of shards of glass and banana peels, he spotted a blood-stained, dirty handkerchief dripping into the sink, plink, plink, plink. Next to the sink, an unhinged door lay in its remnants, wood splinters surrounding its cadaver. "Holy....moly....." Harry's eyes flitted to a crumpled note with bloody fingerprints. He read the note out loud to himself:
"We have your parents. If you want to find them, you'll need to sacrifice something. You have 48 hours to respond.
Signed, P.S.H.D.C.WE.120493_193949."

Journal Entry 48 Write What You See:
  1. Do you agree that if you give respect you get it? Explain.
  2. Of all the people you know, who is the person you respect most of all? Why? What has the person done to earn your respect?
  3. What actions do you take to earn the respect of others?
Yes I agree that if I give respect, I will earn it equally in return. I believe this is so because we as humans are "built" with this innate quality of following others' conduct and upon seeing someone else doing something to you, you would want to treat them in the same way. I guess this also comes with the quote "treat others how you would treat yourself," which means that you should treat others nicely like you would treat yourself, thinking about the consequences of your actions. Of all the people whom I respect, I think I respect my mother the most. My mother is an extremely important part of my life and she hasn't exactly "earned" the respect from me, but I think I was born with this nature to respect my elders, especially my mother. I respect her because she is the one who has raised me all these years and she has endured many pains in that process. So in this way, I respect her. For me, the actions that I would take in order to earn the respect of others would be to:
  • Treat them fairly, no bias
  • Talking to them in an appropriate manner
  • Listen to what they have to say without any interjection or interruption
  • Be courteous/generous
  • Accept them for who they are
  • Look at their positive facets, not the negative ones
  • Always keep the best in mind, not the worst
  • Maintain good relations with them.

Journal Entry 49 Write about a task, job, or chore you dislike.
There are a plethora of household jobs and tasks. But the one that I dislike the most is the one that I am responsible for, which is cleaning up the hairs from the bathroom floor and from the shower area. I mean, everyone uses the bathroom, right? But why am I the one responsible for cleaning if up after everyone uses it? I mean, why can't Cathy do it too? Is she too *quote in quote* "YOUNG" to take on this *sarcasm here* arduously difficult task? I mean, I started bathroom cleaning duty ever since I was in 3rd grade, and she is a 4th grader (now entering 5th grade) for God's sakes! I don't like cleaning the bathroom because I don't feel like it's solely my duty to do so. But then again, I know that it's important to do my share of the cleaning. But the fact that Cathy doesn't do her share bothers me a bit about this chore. But seeing that this is one of the many few chores that I'm required to do (compared to how many my mom has, which is a significantly large number of chores) I feel that I have to do it even though I don't necessarily like it.

Journal Entry 50 Write about someone you would love to see put in jail.
Personally, of all the people I know, I wouldn't want anyone to go to jail without proper reason. But someone who I would love to see put in jail is Kim Jong Il, the dictator from the North Korea. Or more "respectfully", the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (D.P.R.K.). I mean, he's done a lot of supposedly "bad" things to his people and his country (North Korea). But as a person, I don't really know what kind of person he was. I mean, I can't just say that he should be going to jail without knowing what kind of person he was personally, right? If I had that kind of connection with this man, I feel that I would be a better judge to say that he should go to jail. However, because I am not, I feel that I have no say in him going to jail for his actions. But of all the people in the word, I would want him to go to jail.

Journal Entry 51 Write about your semester of Creative Writing Class.
This semester of Creative Writing Class was very different from other creative writing classes that I have done before. It was a new experience for me both academically and socially. Working with people that I haven't worked before, exploring new writing styles, and more, I learned a whole lot of stuff from this class! Not only did I improve as a writer, I feel that I have improved as a person as well. I look forward to using what I've learned in creative writing class in my future life and in high school. I'm kind of sad that it's over now because it was a very fun class! YAY!

Pink with innocence,

New bones, new face, new life
Small and helpless,
a newborn, unknown to the world

Compare/Contrast:
Solitary_Tree_by_xxivxxv.jpggray_leaf_with_dew.png
Compare
Contrast
  • Both represent nature in a sense
  • Both have leaves
  • Both have blue and green colors (although you cannot really tell what colors are on the leaf picture they can be implied)
  • The tree picture is in color while the leaf picture is in black and white
  • The tree picture only has the tree as the main object of the picture while in the leaf picture it is hard to determine what the main object is.
  • The tree picture has the sky as its background while the leaf picture doesn't really have a background since the dominating figure is the leaf and the dew themselves.
  • The tree picture has clouds in it while the leaf picture doesn't
Close-Up of a Flower (my own picture)
DSCF2276_Soyoon's_flower_pic.JPG
Different from all the rest, a lone flower pokes its head out of a patch of green grass. Like a lion in an empty savanna, it boasts its mane of sunset-orange petals while its rustles drowsily in the wind. It shows off its vividly colored petals which cry, "Hello world! Look at how beautiful I am! Come bees, come and pollinate my anthers!" Its blossoms have a vermilion glow which slope gently to a golden yellow toward the center of its head. The flower smells like something in the wind, a bittersweet aroma that cannot be touched nor felt by hand. Bees land upon the flower with their dainty black feet and pollinate its soft anthers and gather its sticky yet grainy pollen with their yellow and black-banded bodies. Its whole body lazily makes swishing noises as it follows the wind...

"Man's life is like a drop of dew on a leaf." - Socrates
Through this quote, I think that Socrates is trying show how small a man's life is, like a drop of dew. Like dew, a man's life may seem very small because life is a fleeting matter compared to the age of the world and the universe itself. Though a man's life may be short, like dew it can be made special once seen closely. Dew drops can sparkle in the light and scintillate in the morning sun, just like a man's life. A man's life may be considered ephemeral but can be made distinct from others when compared in a different light and in some way, can be considered quite beautiful.

Write What You See 2 (Onion)
Ideas for Writing 2
Hi. My name is Onion Bob. Unlike most onions, I have dreams. I haven't been able to express my feeling before...but now that you are here to listen to me, I am ready to say what I've been meaning to say for years! Like I said earlier, I have dreams man, I got some BIG dreams! Though you may not be able to see my eyes on my face right now, I do have eyes you know! From watching television sitcoms from my home inside the vegetable basket in this old lady's home, I have learned about the world you humans live in. I want to be someone living in Hollywood! I want to be a superstar like Beyonce or Taylor Swift! Yeah... I would like to win some Grammys or Tonys or Emmys! I've never had one of those before!

Write What You See 3 (Black and White Thing)
Just by looking at this photograph, I can depict a man wearing cool sunglasses, curly hair, a long beard, a triangular nose, and rubber-band-like mouth. Viewed from the left side, this picture looks like a bunny! Upside down, the picture seems to represent a sea lion of some sort. From the right side, it looks like a dog with long ears. From the clue at the left of the picture ("How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol?"), I could guess that the picture is portrays other animals besides the dove representing peace. In my opinion, I think the picture is trying to depict a duck with huge sunglasses as another peace symbol. Perhaps this photograph was taken as a negative of a scribble. Or, this photograph could have been a neon sign that was taken in the dark and turned black and white. Perhaps this was taken by capturing an artists drawing this image with a bright light (sparkler).

Rachel thinks this photo was taken by the ghost whisperer with a special camera! She thinks this a picture of a invisible man or ghost. Rachel's interpretation of the picture represents that every man in this world can get scared. Andrew thinks that this photo depicts a portrait of a curly haired man wearing huge sunglasses and who has a mouth and a nose. Andrew thinks this photo represents an advertisement for extremely large sunglasses. Annie thinks this photo depicts a portrait of a curly haired man wearing huge sunglasses and who has a mouth and a nose. Annie believes it represents hope or faith. Both Annie and Andrew have the same thoughts as me about this photo. Ms. McCord thinks that this picture may represent Kim Jong Il.

In my opinion, this picture represents a message to "stay cool" no matter what the situation.
