"People who make mistakes don't do anything knew" Albert Eistein. What does this quote mean?

When people try something new, of course they will make mistakes. It's there first time! If you never made a mistake in your entire life, that means you always repeated the exact same things.

Erica Jong said, "If you don't risk anything, you risk more." Writ about what this means to me.

Every life is full of risks. Every life has to have risks. So if you don't want to live with risks, then you are risking your life, basically. It's like trying to live a life with no troubles. You will try to do anything to live with no troubles. However, your life will be trouble because living without trouble isn't natural.

Write from the point of view of a TV remote control

Yawn. My life is so boring! All I can basically do is sleep on a couch, I can't do anything active! When humans come into the house, they start punching my body parts. It really hurts! Also, I have to be prepared to be dirty. Popcorn, ice cream, and soda spill on me a lot of times. I can't even take a bath! Another bad part about being a remote control is that if you die, there is a chance the humans will revive you again. The bad part in that is you can't ever go to "Remote TV Heaven." The only way to go there is by being replace by some Plasma TV remote control or by pretending to be sick. It takes a lot of practice to make the pictures look all fuzzy, but it is definitely possible. The problem is, you have to be sick for a long time and every time they try to surf through the channels, the pictures have to be static-y.

In one sentence, describe something (not someone) that is very ugly. Create a vividly ugly image with words.

It had a furry bulls head with human eyes that glared ferociously, baring its tusks and dull yellow fangs; the body was just as gruesome, with human hand, goat like legs and hoofs, and last but not least, a golden brown stomach.

Madison is so happy. In one paragraph, show that she is happy, but don't use the word happy.

Madison was smiling - no, she was glowing! If she were a puppy, she would be wagging her tail so fast that it would seem as if she weren't wagging her tail at all! She won the lottery!!!!! Her radiant smile pierced through darkness, killing off all evil. People around her, even strangers, would stare at her and then be overjoyed for no apparent reason! The air around her shimmered like diamonds, like sun rays. Her face muscles should be sore from her excessive grin, but she was too elated. Just feeling the money made her, believe it or not, flash her teeth even more. People would swear that they saw hearts, birds, bubbles, and rainbows floating around her head. Her tinkly, delicate laughter echoed everywhere in the neighborhood. Some people may think that she was drunk because she was so untroubled and too euphoric. She was skipping around like a little child!

write about a memory related to a holiday.

About five years ago, my family and three other families went to our friend's house for Thanksgiving. I remember eating lots of turkey, but not stuffing. I hated stuffing and I still do. I did enjoy eating the apple pie, pumpkin pie, and ice cream, though. After eating, my brother, Ethan, Ian, Erik, Olivia, Alex, Andrew, Miyeong, and I went to the living room and pretended that we were camping. My brother, Steven, and I brought some crackers, granola bars, and tortilla bread from the kitchen and place them in a container. Alex and Andrew collected batteries, flashlight, and blankets. We all went to the huge backyard and placed the tent between some relatively big rocks. After playing "camping" for about three and a half hours, we watched a science fiction movie. I don't exactly remember what the movie was about, but it was disgusting.

On the last week of winter break, I felt so relaxed for some reason. Usually, I feel to tense to enjoy my weekends. But on the last weekend, I watched a lot of movies, and played several computer games. I didn't feel tired at all. On that day, I put "fun stuff first and school stuff last." I was re-watching Boys over Flowers episodes when I suddenly realized that it was school tomorrow. However, I didn't freak out. I just packed up my bag and watched another episode of boys over Flowers. I didn't even panic at the thought of midterms!

Write a letter to yourself as a ten-year-old child.

Dear Katherine,

Hi! How is 6th grade? I can't believe you are already in middle school! Korea is so much different than the States, isn't it? Running up the stairs all the time and not being tardy must be a huge experience for you. I bet you wish that Swati is in Korea instead of India. How is social studies class with Mr. Hurst so fun? I don't understand So did you decide yet what your favorite color is? Is it blue or purple? Do you still like bubble gum better than chocolate? I wish you can come back to the States. I really miss you. I know that you can't wait to eat some really good wester food, so hurry back!

Sincerely,

Katherine

For the last two days you were not in school because of the weather - "snow days." As advanced we have become in the 21st century, we still can not control the weather. Do you think this is an advantage of a disadvantage?

I think not being able to control the weather is an advantage. People in the 21st century are used to controlling things. However, life should be like a box of chocolates. We don't have to control and change everything until it is to our complete advantage. Life shouldn't be like a paradise. We are supposed to have occasional ruined vacations and other problems. Also, if controlling the weather was possible, then who will decide what tomorrow's weather would be? Some may want it to snow, some want a sunny day. There will never be hurricanes or other natural disasters. Thought these natural disasters can take away lives, we need it because they are natural. In a way, they remind us that Mother Nature is much more powerful than us.

As this is being written, a show called "What not to Wear" is popular on the cable channel TLC. Imagine more possible shows on a "what not to do" theme. Describe at least one idea. (Don't forget to give the show a name.)

- What not to say

The title would be Oops I Said it Again. This show would show scenarios and what to say. If you have something important, you should know what to say to get it. For example, if you have a job interview, you might say the wrong thing and not get the job. This channel will be funny, sarcastic, and will sometimes be downright ridiculous. Another example will be what to not say if you have to go to the bathroom on your first date.

What's your idea of a perfect vacation?

A perfect vacation would be in Dubai. I would stay at the seven-star hotel. Then, I will go on a water slide where there are live sharks on either side of the slide. I will visit the houses in the middle of the ocean and look at the tallest building in the world. I will play at the beach and swim in the ocean. I will also visit amusement parks. If there are really good malls, I shop there. Next, I will go to a library with lots and lots of books. And, I will eat some traditional food. I will also go to museums.

What would you do with three wishes?

First the first wish, I would wish my family to go to Heaven guaranteed. I would want this wish because, as a Christian, I believe that when I die, I will go to Heaven and live with Jesus for ever and ever and ever. I am not taking any risks of going to hell. For my second wish, I would want the world to be healthy, happy in a nonviolence way and smart. If everyone were healthy, happy, and smart, there wouldn't be war and diseases like cancer, AIDS, and super bugs wouldn't be a problem. People would be able to make smart decisions for their country, too. I would use my third wish to let the world have good mythical creatures. I really like books with fantasy, and I wish that people could meet these creatures and ask them questions about their life, etc. These creatures won't be in danger of being shot because of my second wish. It would be awesome if organisms other than people and ordinary animals existed on planet Earth.

Great-grandpa Rotondo doesn't understand what a video game is. Or an iPod. Or text messaging.

Pick one of the above and explain what it is in terms that even the most un-technological person can understand.

A text message is like an ordinary hand-written letter. Instead of writing the actual content, you type what you want to say on a keyboard of a phone. The keyboard is on a cellphone, a small telephone that isn't heavy. Another difference is that a person doesn't get the message in one week. They get it the second you send it. The message is sent over radio signals, like how you can listen to the president speech on your radio a thousand miles away.

Ryan's heart was pounding. In about a few seconds, he was going to race! He had prepared for this minute for many weeks, enduring pain and cramps in his legs. The sound, feel, and smell of glory and victory entranced him. He could win this! Boom! The gun sounded and the racers were sprinting across the field! Pant pant. His breath was getting short. He was behind all of the other racers. This was a disaster! He must catch up. Slowly, ever so slowly, he pasted the other runners until he was in second place. But the boy in front of him must have been a superhero. He didn't tire or slow down. In fact, he kept going faster! Suddenly, cheers were heard. The hero boy came first! Impossible! Ryan cried, defeated. Then, a judge came to him and whispered something in Ryan's ear. With his heart bursting, Ryan climbed up the steps, pushed the hero boy off the stairs, and stood on the "first place step."

Reflect on the process of writing a short story. What did you learn from the process? If you had the assignment again, how would you approach it?

I learned that a write must work on the brainstorm first. Then, the story could be constructed properly. Also, a writer should think about the purpose of the story before writing. Then, the story could be shaped around the moral, which is easier than writing a story and trying to determine the plot. I would focus on developing the characters more and fixing the plot if I had the same assignment. I would make the plot more engaging by making it more suspenseful and mysterious. At the same time, I wouldn’t make the reader confused with the plot.

Louis kept wringing his hands. The food critic was finally eating his food! Oh, he hoped that the food critic would be pleased with the feast. But the critic did not show any emotion ash she reached for the appetizer.

The meal consisted of a soup similar to clam chowder for the appetizer. Delicate clams surfaced. Carrots, beans, and parsley bubbled to the top of the soup. The garlic bread was sweet and soft, ready to be dipped into the soup. Next to the soup was a salad sprinkled with raisons, corn flakes, and corn. It was finished with a few dollops of clear sauce. The main course was roasted pig with a juicy apple in its mouth. Fish covered with sage, lemon, and chestnut sauce was coming out of the fry pan. Crabs stuffed with crisp cucumbers were laid gently against a mound of yellow rice. For dessert, there were pears dipped in honey, raspberries drowned in chocolate, strawberries covered in cream, a chocolate cake with vanilla filling and blueberry bread. There was also frozen banana with a hat of whipped cream. And last but not least, the chef’s mast piece - a bar of dark chocolate.

The little girl was on the streets, with a little backpack. She had her hood up because it was raining. The little girl, Mary, was at the bus stop, impatiently tapping her foot against the wet pavement. Splash! The bus came to a roar at the stop. Scowling, Mary marched up the steps, getting cranky all the while.

Mary snapped at the bus driver, growling out,"You are exactly 2 minutes late. How dare you leave me out in the rain!"

Max, the bus driver, was ashamed and disturbed. He couldn't imagine a beautiful little girl acting so mean to others. Max shook his head. That girl may look like a goddess' china doll, but she sure was as spiteful as an ant. He wondered how her mom could take care of Mary.

“Max, you brainless elephant! My seat is all wet! You forgot to dry my seat and put the satin blanket on top! And where is my box of chocolate with the sparkly ribbon?!”

“Mary, why don’t you just drive to school with your mom? You are snotty and act like royalty...”

“What did you say? You witless bus driver, you will listen to me and not speak to me without permission. Understand?”

Max glumly nodded. It was difficult for him to regain his composure after he was just reprimanded by a kid a third of his age.

However, Michelle's IQ was below average, partly because she acted like a robot. One night, while Michelle was reading a classical book because Mommy said so, a man started to watch her. The second the clock hit 9:30 PM, Michelle climbed into her bed. Unfortunately, Michelle shouldn't have been a good girl that day. Being asleep and unable to see or defend oneself against a strong person is very helpful for a kidnapper. So Michelle was kidnapped after she climbed into her bed.

Write from the point of view of a freshly scrubbed floor.

Ohhhh. My body hurts everywhere. The scrub scratched me so hard. I feel holes in my body, too. Well, at least I smell nice. And the mop also felt quiet good. I just love feeling the old mop with yarn on my body. It's like a massage. I also enjoyed being polished. It gives me a ticklish feeling. However, this clean feeling won't last long. Sooner or later, I will be stepped on. Ants will once again walk through me, and dust will make me sneeze. And the horrid saliva that people will spit at me will ooze through me. Also, I have to watch the soles of people's shoes. I see blackened gum, banana peels, mud, bugs, and more. I know that people have stepped on my face for at least 100 times. So even though I like the feeling of being sparkly clean, I feel sad. My floor will become dirty again in a matter of minutes, and the cycle will begin again. I feel depressed. I want to cry, but hey! Maybe if I smile and puff out my chest, people will become to respect me! If I'm really good, the people may put a rug on me. I love rugs because they keep me warm and I won't feel like people are staring at me with no clothes on. Ok. I'll try to put on a good face.

There were 3 girls, Tasha, Sasha, and Natasha. The other 2 guys' names were Matthew and Mark. When Chris walked into the room, Tasha and Sasha both sighed. Their eyes went dreamy as they stared at his angelic face. To Tasha and Sasha, his sandy hair seemed like it was made of gold, and his sky blue eyes looked like blue sapphires. His cheeks were flushed red from the hot weather, like rose petals. His sweat was like dew. Natasha also saw a handsome face in Chris, but his body was bloated like a water balloon, and his sweat was pooling around his neck and feet, which was incredibly disgusting. The awful smell of perspiration slowly leaked into her nose and her eyes glazed over, her face turning slightly green. Matthew immediately backed off toward the wall when he saw Chris. Through Matthew's eye, he saw a bully with piercing eyes and sharp elbows. He saw a boy who, when sitting on someone, could suffocate anyone. Matthew didn't want to feel like a little ant. On the other hand, Mark saw a good guy who was just burly and strong and attracted attention, especially from girls. His nose was a little piggy-like, but he seemed like a party guy who danced well to Mark.

Write a paragraph that starts with his sentence: The grass smell red.

The grass smelled red. It smelled like coals, though it was wet with sweet dew. Actually, the sunshine feel like streaks of ice. My senses are mixed up. The grass is on the mountain top, able to withstand the freezing cold, like hot lava. The sunshine turns into a mist over the grass. The grass is so hot, like chili peppers. One tiny bit and your mouth is up in flames. But the smell of red on grass is also a sign of fertility. The rich, damp soil is red with nutrients. And although the grass is hot and cannot grow flowers, it does just the opposite. The grass grows a pale pink, purple, and blow flower. That flower bears a circular fruit. It tasted better then the ripest strawberry, and sweeter than a blueberry, and tangier than a grapefruit. Juicer than a grape and wetter than a melon.

Weave a story around this mixed proverb: Silence is a great healer.

Rose felt angry. She was actually fuming, with smoke coming out of her ears like in comic books. Her best friend Lily had lied to the teacher about her. Rose was going to get the "perfection award", she was sure of it. Though Rose had gotten one detention, she had all 100%s and a perfect GPA. Now Lily also had one detention, but she had 95%s and had a 3.87 GPA. Both were quite competitive, so she was certain that it was Lily who had lied to the teacher, earning another detention for Rose. Rose kicked a nearby wall. She was so frustrated! Now Lily was going to get the award! The next day, Rose didn't talk to anyone. She just wrote in her diary and shrugged when anyone asked her question. She whispered the answer to questions when the teacher selected her to tell the answer, which was rare. Lily looked sad all day, but Rose didn't go comfort her like she usually did. Rose was absolutely silent. After a week of silence and solitude, Rose was tired of not talking. She wanted to gossip with Lily, but under the circumstance, she wouldn't. Not until she apologizes.... Rose watched Lily the next morning. Lily was glummer than usual, with puppy dog eyes whenever she looked up at Rose. Rose decided to talk to her, since she finally forgave Lily. Rose realized that she wasn't giving Lily a chance to apologize, and guilt was all over Lily's face. Lily told her that she told the teacher that she lied. Rose was so happy that she almost cried. Now, she had her best friend back and a chance to get that "perfection award!"

Bad Feeling

Something is wrong.
It's not about the bad song
or the failed test.
Though I didn't try my best,

The wind feels so cold,
but I didn't do what I was told.
I didn't bring my coat

But that's okay.

It is a green, striped alien.
Oh, he did it again.

He looked at me.

that one can easily hurl
into the gloom?

That evil, icy stare,
prickled all of my hair

It scared me to my core,

Is it my mind?
Do I have to go back and find
my body?
No, last night at the party,
I was a little too rowdy.
It was my imagination.

A Chest of Childhood

Every day I look outside,
thinking on the brightside.
Missing those playful days,
in the sun with all of my friends.

That old tattered scrapbook
of when I first learned to cook
up stories of wild fantasy is a delight.
Oh, how I long to be there once again!

But I have a secret in my attic.
Once in a while when I'm at it,
I look inside my treasure chest,
full of memories from the past.

I leaf through my old school
pictures, thinking of the kids who were cool,
like a cucumber,
in the ways I never understood .

These memories - my precious dolls,
and my beautiful, ornate balls,
and most of all,
the joy of being young.

So now, enjoy it.
Every happy bit
should gleefully fit
inside that chest of memories

On rainy days, I would read lots of books. Books can whisk you off into imaginary place, like Isle Esme, Narnia, and so many more since people are stuck in the house on rainy days. I can go back into the pioneer times and see the horses kicking up dust and taste fresh water from streams. I can in my eyes the nightmare the main character experiences and taste the blissful fruit that one cannot describe. I can also feel the strength coursing inside of me as the warrior slays the monster. I hear gulls shrieking and a woman weeping in the seaside. Books can take you to the moon, mars, the beginning of the world or the end of the world. I can imagine being an Arab and being showered in riches that not even sultans have. I can experience horror, love, hope, and despair. I can see mermaids, Atlantis, and Heaven. Everything that people have and haven't seen would come to my eyes. I remember feeling like a helpless nobody who was in danger while reading the book "Octavian Nothing." I remember feeling a dull ache in my heart when Edward left Bella in "New Moon". Humans are creative, inventing things that bees could never do, not in a million years. All bees do are get honey and sting people because of their tempers. Bea wanted a life of adventure, to go skiing and live for over 50 years. Why must fate destine her to a tedious life? Maybe a potion would be discovered, having the ability to transform bees into humans. Bea would definitely buy that potion, no matter what the cost. Mouthwatering foods are entering the sweet-smelling happy dance, craving to be a part of the fun. Sliced bananas with whipped cream hats are swirling to the music.

Fatima is a very spoiled teenage girl. Show that she is spoiled, by describing what happens when she doesn't get a car for her birthday.

If Fatima asks for something, you better give her what she wants. Even if it costs you your job, give it to her. Fatima is 16, and when she wanted a car for her birthday, everyone naturally thought that her parents would give her a car. However, her parents absolutely refused and braced for the worst of their daughter’s temper. Apparently, it wasn’t enough. Fatima screamed and shouted and threatened her parents! She screamed with the top of her lungs, letting everyone in the city hear her cries. She threw expensive items around the house, pulling her mother’s hair out and stealing her mother’s jewelry. She broke her father’s glasses and ripped his baby photos. She was a living storm, more deadly that ever, damaging everything in her path. She threw her stiletto shoes at passing pedestrians, hoping to cause casualties. She growled like an animal and beat items in the house to bits. And in her eyes was savage demon unable to be calmed down unless it gets its desired possession - a birthday car.

"This is just a bad dream...." I was having the worst dream in my life. In my dream, this evil man was tying to catch me. I was running to slowly (as in all dream), but I knew I had to escape. The fate of the world depended on my escape. I suddenly stopped and ran toward the enemy. I couldn't stop running, and my legs were blending into each other. I knew I was sleeping so I tried my "waking up" tactic. I closed my eyes, squeezed, and opened them. It didn't work. I though that this really was reality since I couldn't get my body to get up. The man was coming, running an unearthly speed to grab me when I crash into him. I slipped and slide through the space between his legs, making the man catch handfuls of empty air.

When
I saw that dog, I knew that I would I have a bad day. That dog snickered at me, and then it ran away. Of course I was frightened, but I tried to tough it out.I am not the one who believes in superstition, so why was I scared? I had no idea. I should still be careful just in case something bad but avoidable still happened. I took a deep breath and hurried on. Turns out that at home, a lightning storm is happening. My mom was throwing things everywhere, trying to look for here wallet. That wallet was brand new, and expensive Kipling wallet with everything. If she seriously lost that wallet, then we were in BIG trouble. Her money, credit cards, driver's license were in her wallet. After about 40 minutes, she found the wallet. Actually, the wallet was in her "other" purse, the one she didn't take to school today.

8. Write a paragraph about a cat attacking something, but don't use the words hiss, scratch or pounce.

The cat was staring at the ghost with shrewd eyes. The cat was trying to find a way to attack the ghost without the ghost harming him. The cat found an opening and raked at the ghost with sharp claws. Ouch! The ghost swatted at the cat, causing it to roll toward the wall. The cat arched its back and spat at the ghost. This time, the ghost pinched the cat and pulled its tail. The cat yowled and yowled and cried like a baby. Then suddenly, the cat stopped bawling and noticed the the ghost drifted away towards the stair case. The cat quietly crept on its tiny feet until it was right behind the ghost. The cat immediately bit the ghost so hard that the ghost screamed with agony.

#7 on the list.

When I was in my social studies class, my teacher said that we would make a mosaic as a class. He said that our grade would be based on our participation. I thought that this would be fun and interesting. Then, my teacher told us to find the kid in each group who had the closest birthday as him, which is sometime in August. I thought that this was a little strange, but I complied and told my group what month I was born in. We found out that Sally Lee had a birthday in August, while Cindy and my birth month were in March. When my teacher said that those people would make "special decisions concerning the project," I was disappointed. The "special people" decided that they would make a dog mosaic, use the following seven colors for the mosaic: black, red, yellow, green, blue, white, brown, and how many squares each group was responsible for cutting out. The number of squares turned out to be 600.

When my teacher told our class to get to work, we started immediately, and everyone was chatting happily, excited about making a beautiful mosaic. However, my mood was soured when I heard my teacher say that the "special students" were the leaders of the group. They were not allowed to help cut out the squares, and they were supposed to play with their Macbooks, eating lollipops. Well, that certainly got my angry about the injusticeness. Being the "ordinary people", being forced to cut tiny squares, and not being the leaders were bad enough. Pn top of that, we had to cut out 600 squares per group! My group had only one other person besides me! After about 15 minutes the teacher said that the "ordinary people" could try to persuade the "special people" to help them cut out squares. Eventually, the "ordinary people" persuaded the "special people." But right before the "special people" were about to cut the squares, the teacher said, time's up. I mad really upset. And then the teacher said that we aren't really going to make a mosaic. I almost cried from anger and frustration

6. Describe a storm. This could be a thunder storm, a snow storm, a hurricane, a tornado,a hail storm, or any type of storm.

My sharp ears could hear water sloshing up the coast. I could hear people’s terrified screams and the gurgling of the water as it went over drains. Then the water got me. A huge torrent of dirty, brown water swept me off me feet. Leaves, sticks, and insects flowed with the current of the water. I saw people struggling to reach life rafts, taking nothing but the clothes on them. BAM!!! Another wave of sewer water hit my face, making me go in shock. I certainly wasn’t expecting that to happen. The water was like a tireless, immortal stampede of wild, prairie horses. The horses were never going to stop running. I splashed around, trying to tread water Were did all my swimming skills go? I suddenly couldn’t swim any more. I was just being carried by the dirty, disgusting water.... Uh oh. We are going down a hill now! I was screaming as the water was going at an incredible speed down the hill with me.

4. Describe an object and describe it.

The object is a painting. The top half of the painting is white, and the bottom half of the painting is black. On the top half, there are grayish birds in a formation of half a diamond. As the birds get closer to the black half, the birds loose a little detail and turn blacker until they disappear into the blackness. In between the birds on the white half is white blankness. However, fish shapes start to form between the birds as they get closer to the bottom half of the painting. The fish form the other half of the diamond that the birds began to make. The fish get more detail when they get closer to the bottom of the page. The last fish looks like a masterpiece with every little detail one can and cannot see. Even between the fish when the fish are on the "surface" of the black half, one can still see the wings of the vanishing birds.

An ordinary man was staring at his palm, noticing something on his hand. Black patches of something was blossoming over his palm and arm. What was this? The patches were releasing a liquid that looked like ink! He rushed to the emergency room, screaming in panic. The head doctor at the emergency room answered in a rather shaky voice that he had no idea what the patches were, and that he should see Dr. Klinger, a genius of medicine. The man, Jason, was taken by a calm man who immediately knew what the black spots were. The point was how to reveal his knowledge without Jason knowing Dr. Kingler's true identity.

3. Describe someone who looks bored. Don't use any form of the words yawned or stared or sighed.

Isabella glared at the clock intently, wishing for the minute hand to reach the 12, which would result as the end of the day. Her mind was drifting away at the very moment. Her head was in the clouds, daydreaming. Even her father's 2 hour lecture on how to use the semicolon was more interesting than this...this... speech! Isabella wanted to scream and wail from frustration and boredom. Who in the world would want to listen to a nerd's presentation on batteries? There were also too many vocabulary words that she didn't know! The undefined vocabulary words seemed to worm themselves into Isabella's mind, creating tunnels of boredom so that the nerd's presentation could enter her brain.
