Summary for Ch. 3(The Lotus Eaters)
A young god named Morpheus was sent a task to fly around the world from nightfall to dawn scattering sleep. His father gave him sleep for death, so his aunt gave him flowers that will give good sleeps. Morpheus planted these flowers and then Ulysses and his men rowed to land and they fell asleep with flowers heaped on their arms. Ulysses figures out that the flower was making them sleepy, so Ulysses took his men away from the scent of the flowers.

Responding to literature

Journal(Ulysses)
Ulysses looks like a hero with a wide, grooved brow, the sunken eyes, the red hair, and the jutting chin. Ulysses is a very careful thinking person because after he ate the sleeping flowers, he noticed that the flowers made them all fall asleep. He is also a never giving up type of person because even though his hands keep coming to his mouth with handfuls of flowers, Ulysses never gives up and keeps using his other hand to stop it. He also cares for his men and even though the men are sleeping, Ulysses moves the men meaning he will not leave his men alone.

Journal 2
It may be bad to live on Cannibal Beach because if the day and night were constant then I can't know what will happen in the dark night because there is no light coming out. Also you might get tired quickly because there is no peaceful night. If there was a quick day and night then it would change the weather and also you wouldn't get used to both day and night. The giants hiding in the cannibal trees prevented Ulysses to figure out what was in the trees because at night you can't see well and the next day, Ulysses' men started to disappear each day. Also when they climbed to the cannibal trees, it becomes night, so you can't see unless there is light.

Journal Chapter 9
After Ulysses gets out of the Land of Dead, he goes towards the west to another island , but in their way there were floating rocks which blocked their path and instead he set his course for the Isle of the Sun-Titan, which men called Thrinacia which is also called Sicily. An important decision I had to decide by myself was if I copy off my friend's homework or do my homework by myself.

Journal Entry #5
Ulysses has gone through much physical and mental hardship. Through all of this he
has been determined to return to Itacha. What people and/or places in your life would
you be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to get to/see. Explain your answer.

I would be willing to fight for my family or my home because my home is the most important because my home is the most important living place and if you don't have your family then you would be a loner.

Journal Entry Crispin
One important thing that Father Quinel told to Asta's son is that Asta's son's real name is Crispin. Also Father Quinel tells that Lord Furnival is dying because of illness. He also tells that Crispin's mother hasn't taught Crispin how to read and write.
