Responding to literature

What do you think Ulysses look likes and acts like?
I, as my perspective think that Ulysses will look both smart and athletically. According to The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin, Ulysses outwitted the cyclopes and Troy's tacticians by making the cyclopes blind and bringing in the Trojan Horse into the castles of Troy. Moreover, according to my knowledge (from another book about Ulysses) Ulysses killed all the men who wanted to marry Penelope, his wife with his bows and spears with rage, which can tell that Ulysses is both an athletic and smart character in the Greek Mythology.

Why did Ulysses' men betray him and open the bag of winds from Aeolus? What happened to those men?

Ulysses' men betrayed Ulysses by opening the bag of winds from Aeolus, thinking as the bag was full of gold and treasure. It was when Ulysses went fast asleep sheathing his sword relieved he had come back to his home Ithaca. Poseidon attracted the crew's attention making a sound that hears like gold coins hitting each other, which tempted the first crew mate. The other tried to prevent the first crew to open up the bag, but thought of gold and precious jewels in his hand and so they tried to open the bag. At last, the two men opened the bag with joy, only for a moment.

Suddenly, a whirl wind covered them up. The wind blown the men who opened the bag and made wounds to the other. It happened to be that they came back the Keeper of the Winds Aeolus summoned by the winds. Ulysses was astonished and frustrated at the moment when they were supposed to be at under the wonderful blue sky, but instead, they were under the dark sky and black sea.

What would it be like to live on Cannibal Beach? What problems would it create to have a quicker cycle of day and night? How do you think this kept Ulysses from discovering what the trees were?
It would be hard to survive and living in the Cannibal Beach for a human or a small living thing because of the giant ogres. The giant ogres were huge and ate a lot at one time, which would be hard to get food from near the background. They also might be stressful since, day pursues night and night chases day.

Problems that quicker cycle of day and night created are that the people who surviving in the cannibal beach can't sleep well and it would be extremely cold. Moreover, there wouldn't be enough of sunlight for the plants to grow, which means that there wouldn't be a lot of food to survive.

Journal Entry #4 Ulysses - In Chap. 9,The Wandering Rocks, Ulysses has to decide what to do for himself. All of the advice that he has been given turns out to be useless. What does he decide to do? Have you ever been in a situation that required you to make an important decision on you own? How did you decide what to do?
In chapter 9 "Wandering Rocks," Ulysses ignores and doesn't care about the advices all the ghosts have gave them. The next thing he does is to sail right away to his sweet home Ithaca even though he knows the perils that are waiting for his crew and him. Moreover, he thought that the all the advices that the ghosts gave were lies and made-up stories just to scare him. No, I've never in this situation before.

Ulysses has gone through much physical and mental hardship. Through all of this he has been determined to return to Itaka. What people and/or places in your life would you be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to get to/see. Explain your answer.
I would be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to see my brother and to get to California, San Francisco, Palo Alto. The reason that I would want to see my brother is because he had been generous and nice with me and made me enjoy my life. Moreover, although I don't remember my occupation in the house of Palo Alto in California, I would want to go and visit the house that I've stayed until I was 4 years old and try to remember the events that happened there that might please me.

Father Quinel reveals three things in chapter 8. What are they? What does he promise to reveal later?
