Ulysses went on to the Cyclops's island to find food for his people, but they got in danger because there were some giant monsters in the cave. A person called Polyphemus told Ulysses and his men to go inside the cave and trapped them. When they went in, one of the Cyclopes ate some men and people felt shocked. As the Cyclops ate people, Ulysses stopped him and gave some wine to drunk him. When the monster drunk, he and his men escaped by the crowed sheep and left.

Ulysses was like a hero. Also he was a dirty looking person who was very hungry during the journey, but he was still strong enough to drag his men to the ship. He had some beard and was very smart. Ulysses was a good leader, who took care of his men very well and tried his best to find the safety way for the journey. Ulysses was very creative because he told the monster his name and it was Nobody. The name Nobody made the monsters fell confused. Also, all the cyclops could not help his friend because they thought that he meant that he pocked his own eye.
Why did Ulysses's men betrayed Ulysses?What happened to those men?
Ulysses's men thought that the wind bag was filled with golden coins, when they heard the the coins hitting each other. So, they thought that Ulysses should share with them. While Ulysses was asleep, the two men went toward the wind bag with a knife. Then they ripped the bag and made a big trouble. After the two men made a terrible mistake, they were killed.
What would it be like to live on Cannibal Beach? What problems would it create to have a quicker cycle of day and night? How do you think this kept Ulysses from discovering what the trees were?
I think that if you live in the Cannibal Beach, it would be very stressful and dangerous. Since the night time was short, you wouldn't get the time in the Cannibal beach. While you are asleep, the giant might appear and eat you up. Also, it was dark that Ulysses kept discovering what the tree was in the dark.
Journal Entry #4 Ulysses - In Chap. 9,The Wandering Rocks, Ulysses has to decide what to do for himself. All of the advice that he has been given turns out to be useless. What does he decide to do? Have you ever been in a situation that required you to make an important decision on you own? How did you decide what to do?
All the advice that the ghost gave Ulysses was useless so he ignored them and made his own decision. Ulysses and his man turned toward the Sun Titan. I have been in a situation where I needed to make my own decision. While I was doing my homework, I didn't understand what to do, so I ask my friends and everybody had different opinion, so I made my own decision, which was very hard.
Journal Entry #5 - Ulysses has gone through much physical and mental hardship. Through all of this he has been determined to return to Itacha. What people and/or places in your life would you be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to get to/see. Explain your answer.
I would fight like Ulysses for my family, which are father, mother, and sister. Even though they make me fell angry sometimes, I would fight for my family. The reason I would fight for my family is that they helped me a lot and I need to try my best for my family too.
