Please respond to the following journal assignment on your wiki page.
1. Please describe Ulysses-what does he look like and act like? Try to be specific.
Ulysses 1 -Francis Bae
If you look at the cover of our book, Ulysses isn't a young, gentle man. He is more like a war-like man who likes to fight. However, he is the smartest and he thought about the Trojan Horse. Without Ulysses, they couldn't have won the war. His body should be big and has a muscular body because he was in the war for 10 years. If you read the later part of the book, he escapes a Cyclopes by using his smart head. He acts like a general in a war, but in a dangerous situation, he thinks calmly for the best solution. If he was in the 21 century wearing tuxedo, he would be the CEO of a big company.
Chapter 4
Ulysses' men were hungry and they had to get food. Ulysses and their men landed on a small island and a Cyclops came and they were inside his cave and they were eaten 1 by 1. Ulysses given him wine and the cyclopes was sleeping. his crew helped him to make the cyclops to be blind. Ulysses told the cyclops that his name is nobody, and when the cyclops told the others who made him blind, he said nobody made him blind. And he prayed to Poseidon to make Ulysses impossible to go to homeland and even if he does, make him a stranger.
Responding to Literature
Assignment for Mon., Sept. 7, 2009. Please answer the following prompt and put it on your wiki under journal/response to literature. Why did Ulysses' men betray him and open the bag of winds from Aeolus? What happened to those men?
The men were tired of hunger and they started to think if someone is hiding something from you, and they get curious and they try to find what they really want. They thought Ulysses was hiding his own food or jewels. They were thinking that Ulysses thought about himself only. So they thought of sharing.
In class assignment for Tues., Sept.15, 2009. Answer the following journal question. What would it be like to live on Cannibal Beach? What problems would it create to have a quicker cycle of day and night? How do you think this kept Ulysses from discovering what the trees were?
If I lived in the Cannibal island, we would sleep early and wake up early. I can't eat those fruits because they don't get a lot of sunlight and don't get rest. You can't see things very well and ogres chasing you.
Journal Entry #4 Ulysses - In Chap. 9,the Wandering Rocks, Ulysses has to decide what to do for himself. All of the advice that he has been given turns out to be useless. What does he decide to do? Have you ever been in a situation that required you tomake an important decision on you own? How did you decide what to do?
He decides to go to the Isle of the Sun Titan. I had to decide whether to have a birthday party with my friends or get a present that I want from my parents. I decided that I will buy a present that I want. I thought more deeply about two options. Birthday presents are usually gone when you use it for a certain period. But if I choose a present that I want and that will last long, it will be more beneficial.
Journal Entry #5
Ulysses has gone through much physical and mental hardship. Through all of this he has been determined to return to Itacha. What people and/or places in your life would you be willing to fight as hard as Ulysses to get to/see. Explain your answer.
I will fight for my job with people who has the same dream as I do. When I grow up, I want to be a person who makes movie graphic. I was inspired by watching Star Wars episodes. The light sabers' halo, the gun colors and the explosions, spaceships, and all the highlights of the movies. I really want to be a graphic maker. I also wants to see my future University with the best education for the movie graphics.
