Ulysses is brave, courageous, strong but clever and intelligent. He has red hair and a beard. I think he is shaggy because he has just come back from a war. He is clever because he solves things faster than other men for example, when his men were all sleeping because of the dreaming flowers, he was the first to realize that it was making them sleep.
He is also courageous when he makes risky plans but he leads them himself. For instance when they were stuck on the cyclop’s island, he made a plan to escape without getting a lot of the men killed.
His cleverness is also shown in the Trojan war when he created the wooden horse to get inside of Troy. It was an ingenious plan because the Trojan thought they had won and partied all night and soon got killed by the Greeks.
Journal Entry 2
Ulysses and his men escaped from the Lotus Island just barely. however, Ulysses knew that he was taking his men into a nightmare. the men in the crew were all hungry and began to complain that Ulysses should have just left them in the Lotus Island. They were rowing one day past an island but they didn't know that it was the island of the cyclops.
Polyphemus tricked them into their hunger when Ulysses couldn't stop them. they were trapped but Ulysses used his intelligence to trick Polyphemus and escape. However many men were killed by Polyphemus.
Journal Entry 3
Ulysses and his men escaped form Polyphemus and came upon a bronze wall. He was secretly guided by the mischievous Poseidon after Polyphemus had prayed to him. They were blown by a strong wind that knocked all the men including Ulysses out.. When they woke they found themselves staring at Aeolus the keeper of the winds. He gave them hospitality and gave Ulysses a bag of winds incase of emergency. He warned Ulysses that none of his men need to touch it and to guard it himself.
When the men finally saw Ithaca, Ulysses was so joyous that he fell asleep. Two of his men were greedy and thought that there were coins in the bag. They slashed it open and were blown off the ship. The boat was broken and was dragged back to the island of Aeolus who said he would not help them anymore. So Ulysses hiding his anger and sadness continued the journey.
What would it be like to live on Cannibal Beach?
I think that if i lived on Cannibal Beach, i would be cautious and alert for everything for the rest of my life. Because just like in Ulysses, it is hard to see what everything is so i would have to be careful about everything, I would also become more responsible and brave because I would have to cope with all the dangers for my self and find food and living essentials my self.
I think I would be really glad if sailors or any humans came to visit the island because I would be living by myself and it would be really lonely.
I would also get very little sleep because I am not aware of my surroundings. Since day and night are so close that would also effect my sleep. I would be very thin as it is hard to find food and be more of a risk taker because I would have to try new things that are on Cannibal Beach. Since I would have to live a Spartan life, I would forget about all the luxuries and good food and cloth that I was used to wearing and try to adapt to the island. Overall it would be a very hard place to live.
I think it was hard for Ulysses to see the giants because night chases day and day chases night and the cycle goes too fast. The giants sleep whenever when they want and wake up when they want so he was sleeping when it was near morning and ate the three sailors. Ulysses was more aware of the surroundings so he survived form the giants and was able to alert his crew.

Before when my mom wanted me to go to tuition and I told my mom that I would rather study and do work books my self than going to tutors. So after that I took serious responsibility and because I didn't want to go to tuition classes, I studied hard for tests and did well in school and I did it by myself. I still remember because I still don't go to tuition classes and do it my self if I have time. I think I took responsibility and did what I could. My mom really can't say anything because I do my homework and try to do my best at everything.
Before when America was captured by England George Washington helped America gain freedom., he wanted America to be free, and he motivated the Americans and they never gave up and fought until they gained the freedom. This shows how determined George Washington was to gain freedom. Even though England was stronger and had more power he was still determined to get freedom.
