Ulysses and his men were very tired during their journey. So on their way, they stopped at an island. But in that island, there was Morpheus, the son of Hypnos, God of sleep. When Ulysses and his men arrived there, everybody fell asleep after smelling the lotuses and dreamt about their lively family and hometown. When Ulysses fell asleep, he dreamt about Cyclops, monsters, and etc. As soon as he woke up, he realized that those monsters were the monsters they would face throughout their journey.
