1. character-A character is a person or animal who takes part in the action of a literary work
2. conflict- A conflict is a struggle between opposing forces. It is one of the most important elements of stories, noves, and plays because it causes the action.

-internal-An internal conflict is one that takes place within the mind of the character. The character struggles to make a decision, take an action, or overcome a feeling

-external -An external conflict is one in which a ccharacter struggles against some outside forces.

foreshadowing- Foreshadowing is the use, in a literature work, of clues that suggest events that have yet to occur.

mood-Mood, or atmosphere, is the feeling created in the reader by a literary work or a passage.

protagonist-The protagonist is the main character in a literary work.

antagonist- An antagonist is a character or force in conflict with a main character.

setting-The setting of a literary work is the time and place of the action.

symbol-A symbol is anything that stands for or represents something else.

theme-A theme is a central message, concern, or purpose in a literary work.
