Ulysses' men have betrayed him because, since he past, he had not divided the treasures equally, which ended up made the men to open it. They wanted to see what treasure he got, and wanted to steal it before Ulysses took it by himself. After the opened it wind came out all over and the men collapsed and had a terror.
